What has been the highlight of your time at QMU so far?
Socially, my highlight has been getting to know lots of amazing people. I was a direct entry student, and so was joining an already established class, but everyone was so welcoming. I have joined the PsychSoc Society and, in order to give something back, have taken on the role as treasurer on the committee. I am also a proud member of the Monarchs Gaming Society, where I enjoy playing board games and video games, hanging out with friends, and just chilling out. It is the perfect way to end a busy week. Academically, my highlight has been meeting and building up a rapport with all my lecturers. All the staff on my course are very friendly, approachable, and extremely knowledgeable in their subject areas. I have also enjoyed my role as a class representative, acting as bridge between students and staff to ensure that students have the best possible student experience.
What is one thing you wish you knew before coming to university at QMU?
I wish I had known how supportive and helpful everyone at the University is. Because it is such a small university, there is a real sense of community and belonging, and you are always going to spot someone you recognise, whether it’s a lecturer, other member of staff, classmate or friend from a society. The staff from student services are always friendly and approachable, and will always help you no matter how big or small your query is. Members of the Student Union are always available for a chat and will happily answer any questions.
What is your favourite thing about being an ambassador for QMU?
My favourite thing about being an ambassador for QMU is being able to promote the University in any means possible. It so rewarding being able to share my positive experiences with prospective students, particularly those who would be direct entry students like I was, and hopefully encourage them to choose QMU as their University. It has also been amazing to be able to give something back to QMU.
