Laura Sweeney MSc, PGCE, MA (Hons) is a Lecturer in Events Management and has worked with Queen Margaret University since 2017. Laura has previously worked as an associate lecturer at the University of the West of Scotland, in researcher development at the University of Strathclyde, and in research, strategy and operations at the University of Glasgow.
Laura completed her PGCE in Higher Education at the University of Glasgow, specializing in English. Laura completed MSc in International Events Management with the University of the West of Scotland, specializing in experiential event design and management.
Laura has undertaken research into business improvement within the University of Strathclyde, with a particular focus on the redesign and development of public engagement events for PhD researchers, and social media strategy implementation. Laura has also developed and delivered high-value charity fundraising events across Scotland.
My research has been focused on the impacts and outcomes of event management and design. I have undertaken critical investigation into the use of experiences in promotional event design by experiential event managers across the UK.
In addition, I have undertaken research into business improvement for events, with a particular focus on the redesign and development of public engagement events for PhD researchers, and social media strategy implementation. My mostrecent research focuses on protest events and their effect on established gender power structures.
