I am currently lecturing in the department of Nursing – with the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing students. I am involved in the teaching of Practice Teacher trainees and in providing both academic and placement support to both students, practice teacher trainees and qualified practice teachers. I am also co-facilitator for a programme of continuing professional development (CPD) for all qualified health visitors in Borders, Lothian and Fife funded by NES – in which we facilitate learning sessions at the university and in Fife where staff are encouraged to share learning and good practice. My recent practice background is in health visiting where I did my practice teacher training. I have worked as a Health Visitor for over 5 years. Previous to this I worked for 5 years overseas with Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO) in Malawi Africa, lecturing student nurses and midwives at Mzuzu University, working in Mzuzu Central, a government hospital, to help improve patient care and as a clinical nurse instructor at St John’s College of Nursing. I have also worked as a midwife and a general adult nurse. I have had a varied career and have developed many skills working both in the UK and also in Malawi. I am currently studying towards my PG Cert. I have always had a passion for teaching and learning and am excited to develop my role here at QMU.

- Research interests are in public health nursing – in particular maternal, child and family health.
Lecturer – Specialist Community Public Health Nursing, teaching on Child Protection module, which is a double module. Promoting work based learning and bridging theory to practice. Supporting students in practice placements. Teaching on Practice Teaching Trainee course and supporting on practice placement.
