Venepuncture and IV Cannulation for Radiographers
The overall aim of the Venepuncture and IV Cannulation for Radiographers module is to enable radiographers to demonstrate competence in terms of the practical skills and decision making processes associated with venepuncture and intravenous cannulation. This is based on the integration of clinical experience with academic underpinning.
Venepuncture and IV Cannulation for Radiographers: The course in brief
The module structure will allow the student to gain theoretical knowledge as well as having the opportunity for experiential reflective learning within their own work place. This will facilitate the development of skilled reflective practitioners with the theoretical knowledge, understanding and competency to practise within their speciality area.
The learning outcomes relate to the ‘Education and Career Framework for the Radiography Workforce’ by allowing students to develop their practice in terms of the administration of medicines within the legal framework of the radiographers role.
The course also fits within the SCoR ‘Learning and Development Framework’ by allowing practitioners to fulfil their continuing professional development needs having identified intravenous cannulation as a goal to enable practice at a higher level in line with their career progression framework.
