Submissions can be setup using either The Hub or Turnitin.
Turnitin supports assessment through similarity checking and marking and feedback processes. Turnitin is integrated with the Hub.
Turnitin guidelines for students
Turnitin is an online tool that enables students to submit work electronically via the Hub and access the results and feedback from lecturers.
Its primary use is to support academic skills development, including accurate citing and referencing and academic integrity.
Further information on plagiarism and referencing can be found on the Library's LibGuides site:
LibGuides: Referencing and plagiarism guidance
Getting started with Turnitin
Students can only use Turnitin if it has been made available by a member of staff.
Work will usually be submitted through an assessment dropbox in the course Hub site.
Student Guides to Submitting your assignment to Turnitin
The following guide shows you how to submit your work to a Turnitin dropbox on the Hub:

After submission you will have the option to download a digital receipt which you should keep safe in case of any disputes.

Accessing your feedback
Once submitted to the Turnitin dropbox, it will be marked electronically. Once marked, students will be able to access the grade and feedback digitally through the Hub.
You can login to the hub and go to the assignment drop-box where you submitted the assignment to view your feedback.
Accessing your marks
Once they have been released, you will be able to access your marks through the student portal or the myqmu mobile app.
Advice for staff

Similarity checking
What is a Similarity Report?
Turnitin Similarity report is an online service which accepts submissions electronically and compares them with a database consisting of web pages, a repository of previous students work and a range of electronic resources to produce a similarity score and report. If there are instances where a student's writing is similar to, or matches against, one of the sources, then they will be flagged for review.
Staff and students should understand that similarity reports do not say whether plagiarism has taken place; the report simply highlights sections of the submitted text that match other sources. It remains an academic decision as to what the similarity means and what happens as a consequence.
More information on understanding plagiarism and Similarity Reports can be found below:
Rubrics and grading forms in Turnitin
A rubric or grading form is a structured template for marking students' work against a set criteria.
If you would like to add a rubric or grading form you will need to attach it to your assignment before the marking begins.
Lecturers can click here to access the Digital Education Toolkit to find guidance on adding a rubric in Turnitin.
