About you
Why did you choose to study at Queen Margaret University (QMU)?
I was offered this course by my line manager at Angus Community Nursing after several years working in the community with the District Nursing Team and after a number of years since I had last studied.
What interested you about your chosen course?
This course offered the relevant modules to develop myself as a Community Nurse.
The Course
What have you most enjoyed about your course? What has been the highlight?
I have greatly enjoyed being inspired by the lecturers. I loved the person- centred module and how this is closely entwined with all the other modules
A major personal highlight for me was getting an A for my coursework after being out of studying for a very long time!
Have you participated in a course activity you found especially interesting?
I loved all the activities, especially the videos and inspiring TED talks.
How have your lecturers supported your learning?
Our lecturers are always very ‘present’ when you are with them, and very kind. I enjoyed my Personal Academic Tutor (PAT) meetings both individually and within a group setting.
What have been some of your challenges with the course and university life? How have you overcome them?
Getting to grips with the IT was a bit of a challenge, but patience and peer support has helped.
Do you have any advice for students who might be interested in applying for this course?
Do it! The course is very worthwhile and relevant to current health policy, particularly if you are starting a career in the community.

What QMU student services have you used and how have they helped you?
I took advantage of the Effective Learning Service who were very helpful with Zoom meetings, fab! I preferred this method of help to email contact.
What’s your ‘top tip’ for making the most of being a student?
Trust the process, even if you initially feel overwhelmed!
After QMU
What are you plans after graduation? Tell us about your ambitions and where you see yourself in the future?
I applied for and successfully got in to a promoted post. I plan to put my Person-Centred Practice learning into practice as a leader.
