Music Therapy
Welcome to the Music Therapy section of the Practice-based Learning Support web site.
Every student completing the MSc Music Therapy at Queen Margaret University undertakes 2 x 40 credit placement modules during their programme. We link with services in the third sector, local authorities, independent sector and in the NHS to provide a range of practice-based learning experiences.
Placements take place in a variety of settings: schools; hospitals; counselling services; day care services and more. Students work with people across the lifespan - from preschool children to older adults. In these settings, professionals from a range of backgrounds provide support and supervision for Music Therapy students.
This web resource is here to support all involved in the process of supporting our students on practice placement.
At Queen Margaret University there is a team of qualified Music Therapists who work closely with students, supervising and assessing placements. We are always keen to connect with the people who are currently, and potentially, involved in placements.
The team for Music Therapy Practice Education comprises of:
Programme Leader: Philippa Derrington
Professional Practice Tutor and Module co-ordinator: Philippa Derrington
Placement Administrator: Merryn Forshaw
Placement Support: ArtsTherapies@qmu.ac.uk
Personal Academic Tutors:

Information on the programme can be found on our website.
